What should I expect to pay for lawn care?

A homeowner looking up lawn care is usually trying to answer one question: what should I expect to pay for a visit on this yard. This lawn care estimate is the full visit — the scheduled cut and any extras the crew will actually do — shown as a low–high band you can read before you call anyone.

What you can measure before you call

Start with the lawn. Enter square feet, or switch to acres. One acre converts at 43,560 sq ft, and that constant can be edited if your lot figure is different. Next, choose how often you want the crew. The presets are weekly 4.33 visits per month, every two weeks 2.17, and monthly 1.00. You can also type another visits-per-month number.

Difficulty is the part of the yard a tape measure misses. Easy is 0.85, standard is 1, and difficult is 1.5. Gates, slopes, and obstacles are reasons a standard lot might move toward difficult. The multiplier stays visible in the result, so two yards of the same size can show different bands for a reason you can point at.

Extras are optional and priced per visit: Edging $8–$15, Trimming $5–$10, Bagging $5–$15, and Cleanup $10–$25. Leave a line off when that work is not part of the visit. Fertilization and aeration are not default lines. If a quote includes them, raise a rate or edit an add-on so the band matches the scope you were offered.

How a visit becomes a monthly band

On each side of the range, mowing starts as area × rate × difficulty. The illustrative rates are $0.008–$0.016 per sq ft. If that product sits under the minimum visit of $35–$50, the estimate uses the minimum on that side. Selected add-ons then add their low amount to the low side and their high amount to the high side. The month multiplies the per-visit band by visits per month. Per square foot divides the per-visit band by the area and shows four decimal places.

Worked example: the live homepage sample

The sample printed on the homepage is a 2,000 sq ft lawn, weekly at 4.33 visits per month, standard difficulty ×1, rates $0.008–$0.016 per sq ft, minimum visit $35–$50, and no add-ons.

Read that as the homepage states it: $35–$50 per visit · 2,000 sq ft → monthly $151.55–$216.50. On this particular yard the minimum is what sets both sides. The raw area math is underneath it.

A season total is optional

Season planning multiplies the current per-visit band by a visit count from 1 to 1,000 and leaves the monthly line alone. Use it after the monthly band already matches the schedule you want.

Compare two quotes on the same scope

When two companies name different prices, check three things in the band. Is the figure one visit or a month? Is edging, trimming, bagging, or cleanup inside the number or extra? Does their square footage match the 2,000 sq ft you entered, or a larger lot? Put their scope into the add-on lines, then read per visit and per month again.

Open the lawn care estimate calculator and change the area until the band describes your yard. The assumptions date on the product defaults is 2026-08-24. After you replace the rates, you are looking at your own sheet, not that sample.
